Our delicious home cooked food
As many of our meals as possible are home made using local produce. In addition to the main menu we offer light bites at lunchtime and a children’s menu. On Sundays we have freshly cooked Sunday roasts using meat sourced from the village butcher (Watson’s Farm Shop, Edale Road, Hope). This means that we do offer a slightly reduced Sunday menu and light bite menu. We also have a vegan and gluten free menu.
We use as much local fresh produce as possible. Our current suppliers include: Watson’s Farm Shop, Hope (Meat), Holme Farmed Venison (Venison), RG Morris (Fresh fish), Tomson, Buxton (Fruit and vegetables), Middleton Dairy, Bamford (Milk, yoghurt, Cream) Bennetts Farm, (Free range eggs), Hope Valley Ice Cream (Ice Cream) The Bakewell bakery ( Bread and Bakewell puddings), The Hartington Cheese Shop (local cheese), The Herb Table, Bamford (for fresh herbs)
Real ales and drinks
Here at The Cheshire Cheese Inn we pride ourselves in the delivery of excellent drinks. We always have fabulous local real ales on draft and full cellar of wines and spirits.
We work hard to find great local beers from both Derbyshire and Yorkshire and we also frequently have some of the most popular ales the country has to offer. We have 5 hand pulls which are all in use during the summer months. During the Winter months we may offer less choice, however we believe that what is important is quality rather than quantity and that the beer we serve is well kept.
Here is a sample of some of our regular beers:
Farmers Blonde 4.0%: This pale ale is brewed by Bradfield Brewery which is located in the small village of Bradfield which is on the north side of Sheffield. It’s our most popular ale and is an extremely refreshing beer with a light citrus taste.
Bakewell Best Bitter 4.2%: Peak Ales brew this beer. It is a robust amber coloured ale. It is dry and firmly bitter, with some roasted malt flavours and plenty of grassy hops
Moonshine 4.3%: A light summery ale from Abbeydale Brewery has been very popular here since the summer of 2014 with a citrus taste and a lovely bitter finish.
Barnsley Bitter 3.8%: This award winning Barnsley Bitter is brewed using the finest quality Maris Otter malt and English hops. Chestnut in colour, having a well rounded, rich flavour, it retains a lasting bitter finish. Brewed using yeast strains used in the 1850’s to brew ‘Barnsley Bitter’.
